By the time the Uzbek Tigers made their WSB debut in Season VI, several of their boxers had already gathered precious WSB experience as draft picks for other teams. With their expertise united and Uzbek boxing in the ascension, it proved an impressive first campaign for the new team. The opening fixture saw an emphatic 5-0 away win over Puerto Rico Hurricanes, a scoreline the team repeated against Azerbaijan Baku Fires after a magnificent 4-1 win over titleholders Astana Arlans Kazakhstan. After a 6-4 Quarter-Final victory over two legs against the Russian Boxing Team, the Tigers eventually fell to the Cuba Domadores, but not before firmly establishing themselves as a WSB team to watch.
The 30-strong Tigers squad for Season VII is home to some of the best boxers in the world today, including three Rio 2016 Olympic Champions: Hasanboy Dusmatov (49kg), Shakhobidin Zoirov (52kg) and Fazliddin Gaibnazarov (64kg). Two further silvers and two bronze medals saw Uzbekistan top the Olympic boxing table for the first time in its history, and the side will be determined to reach the WSB finals at the second time of asking.
