Fly Zhakupov Miras
28 years
AIBA Class

Miras Zhakupov is a WSB veteran with four seasons of experience in the competition to his name. Although the Bantamweight athlete has only appeared in two matches this season, the 2010 Kazakh National Champion enjoyed an excellent victory over America’s Brent Venegas, before suffering a narrow defeat to India’s Gaurav Bidhuri.

Zhakupov boasts excellent WSB Finals experience after he competed for Astana Arlans against Ukraine Otamans in the Season III decider. A unanimous decision victory over Mykola Butsenko helped his team become Champions, and he will be eager to replicate that result once again in Astana.

Bantamweight is one of the strongest WSB weight classes, but Zhakupov has frequently competed well against the best in the world. The Kazakh star defeated Cuba’s Yosbany Veitia in the Clash of Champions pre-season fixture late last year, plus he outpointed Olympic Champion Robeisy Ramirez in the 2012 President’s Cup, which will give him immense confidence ahead of another impending Cuban clash.

Tall for the weight, with fast hands and an excellent chin, the 25-year-old is a resilient fighter who reacts well to pressure, which makes him an ideal competitor in the fiery cauldron of the WSB Season V Finals.
