Middle Nursultanov Meiirim

AIBA Class

Meiirim Nursultanov finished fifth in the WSB Middleweight (75 kg) rankings after five consecutive victories, and earned his sixth success with a wonderful semi-finals triumph over Russia’s Sukhrob Sidikov.

Middleweight has been one of WSB’s most keenly contested weight classes this season, which makes Nursultanov’s undefeated streak all the more impressive. The 21-year-old star believes his match with Poland’s Tomasz Jablonski was his toughest content in the campaign so far, and he has also beaten Kalvin Henderson, Raffaele Munno, Jaba Khositashvili and Juan Rodríguez.

Nursultanov’s boxing career began at the age of 13, after his brother also competed in the sport, and he defines his style as universal, due to his high skill level among all aspects of boxing. With fast hands, an excellent defence, and tactical nous, many opponents struggle to perform well against him.

Victory in the 2014 Kazakh National Championships confirmed his status as one of the best boxers in his country, while the gold medal he achieved 2010 Asian Games remains his most treasured accomplishment.
