Born in 1990, Mardan Berikbayev has been a member of the Kazakh National Team since 2010 and is beginning to make a major name for himself in the world of boxing. One of the quickest boxers in WSB history, Berikbayev defeated Venezuela’s Yoel Finol in the first week of Season V, and followed up with a fifth week triumph over Puerto Rico’s Anthony Ortiz.

Despite success in many tournaments all over the world, Berikbayev credits his flawless 6-0 WSB record as his proudest accomplishment in boxing, while he named Russia’s Berik Galanov as his most difficult opponent. WSB is the perfect competition for a fighter of Berikbayev’s style, as his all-action approach puts rivals under pressure from the opening seconds of each contest.

The gold medal success of Bekzat Sattarkhanov from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games gave Berikbayev inspiration to begin his boxing career, while he has similar aspirations to achieve an Olympic gold medal in the future.

His favourite current fighter is former two-time Olympic and AIBA World Championships gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux, who shares a similar in-ring style to the talented Kazakh athlete.
