WSB Season VIII Playoffs line-up and format confirmed for May

Following one of the most competitive regular season ever seen in World Series of Boxing with 13 Weeks of world-class boxing across 3 continents, the playoffs format and line-up have now been confirmed. The Season VIII knockout stage will see the 4 best-ranked teams entering the semi-finals across home and away legs scheduled on 18-19 May and 25-26 May respectively.

Following a draw involving the four qualified teams and conducted on the WSB headquarters in Lausanne, the semi-finals match-ups have been defined with the British Lionhearts taking on Astana Arlans Kazakhstan and France Fighting Roosters facing Cuba Domadores.

Season VI runner-up’s British Lionhearts finished with the strongest record from the regular season, dropping just seven bouts in their five wins to set up a Semifinal encounter full of Olympic talent against three-times WSB Champions Astana Arlans. The Kazakh squad arrives to the knockout stage with only 1 defeat in their account and ready to defend the WSB trophy.

The second semi-final will see the France Fighting Roosters taking on Cuba Domadores in what promises to be one of the most anticipated clash on World Series of Boxing. Both teams have completed an almost perfect Regular Season with the two-times WSB Champions Cuba Domadores finishing only 1 point behind the French squad.

In the event of a 5-5 draw in any of the playoffs matches, all ten weight categories were also drawn early this Season to determine which weight would box in a tie-break. The welterweight division (69kg) will define the semi-finals, and the light welterweight (64kg) the Finals.
