Italia Thunder and Azerbaijan Baku Fires battle for Group B success

After losing to Astana Arlans Kazakhstan last week, Italia Thunder will want to begin phase two of the Regular Season in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) with success against Azerbaijan Baku Fires.

The Azeri Franchise have only achieved victory in one of their three away matches this season, while the Italians are undefeated at home.

During the first week of Season V, The Baku Fires defeated the Thunder 4-1 in Guba, and the two Franchises are separated by just one point in the table.

India’s 1-1 Gaurav Bidhuri won his last home match for Italy, and seeks his second successive win against Baku Fires Flyweight (52 kg) Murad Rabadanov who makes his first appearance of the season.

The Lightweights (60 kg) are in action next, where 24-year-old Italian debutant Sedik Boufrakech faces a daunting opening contest as he faces the number one ranked 3-0 Albert Selimov.

Italia Thunder have yet to win a match at Welterweight (69 kg) this season, and will hope all that changes when their decorated boxer Alfonso Di Russo opens his WSB account against 2-0 Parviz Baghirov who competes away for the first time.

Valentino Manfredonia has been one of Italy’s best boxers in Season V, and the second ranked Light heavyweight (81 kg) looks for his fourth win in a row when he fights Azerbaijan’s experienced 2-1 Soltan Migitinov who is ranked number four at the weight class.

The fights in Milan finish at Super heavyweight (91+ kg) where the undefeated fifth ranked Guido Vianello battles the number one 3-0 Arslanbek Makhmudov in a bout which has the capacity to end very early.
