The scales were waiting for the boxers who will fight in the second leg of this Battle of Champions. One after another the boxers confirmed their weights. Then, the two most anticipated boxers arrived and the scales showed 81 Kg. Croatian Hrvoje Sep, confident and charismatic, and the Cuban Julio César la Cruz, quiet, almost shy, but with a special light in his eyes. The Arlan challenged the Domador face to face, as Camaguey’s boxer supported him. The public and the press sighed marveling.
After this scene we decided to put together these two boxers for a joint interview, the only two competitors who already fought each other in Season IV. They didn’t look at each other during theirs answers, maybe keeping their territory apart.
What do you think about this match, this Battle of Champions in Astana?
Julio César la Cruz: It was a great idea by AIBA’s executives. Nowadays Cuban and Kazakh boxing are two big powers. I think that this match will be a great spectacle for the world boxing family. The best pound-for-pound boxer in each category will be in the ring.
Hrvoje Sep. I think it’s a great opportunity to show the world what WSB really is with its greatest boxers in the world.
You are the only two boxers who fought last season. “El Doctor” (Julio César la Cruz ) won that contested fight. What do you remember?
JCLC. It was a strong fight, both looking for the win. I think what helped to win was more strength of character. But it was a fine bout, with courage and bravery, and Sep was a strong opponent.
HS. I remember it was a very close fight. I thought I won that fight but the judges announced him as a winner so it was fair and square. I will try to win this time.
What can we expect from the fight of both of you?
JCLC. We will have a good fight and the winner will be the one who gets into the rhythm.
HS. You can expect a very good fight because my opponent is the best in the world. But the stronger my opponent is, the better it is for me, because I like to fight with very strong boxers so I can show the world how good I am.
