Croatian footballing legend Suker gives WSB the thumbs up

After bringing his entourage with him to watch British Lionhearts versus Astana Arlans Kazakhstan and lend support to his friends Hrvoje Sep and reigning WSB Champion Filip Hrgovic, former Arsenal, West Ham and Real Madrid striker Davor Suker gave World Series of Boxing (WSB) a glowing reference after being impressed by the quality on show at York Hall in East London.

The former striker, who is his country national team’s all-time leading goal scorer and the current president of Croatian Football Federation said, “It is great to be back in London. It is my first time at a WSB event and the atmosphere has been great. I was here to support the two Croatian boxers. They are both very good guys. I think they can look forward to having really good careers and I hope they go on to become World Champions”.

Suker will have been pleased by how the evening began with Sep winning the opening contest at Light Heavyweight (80-85kg) in style, dominating his opponent Babacar Kamara with his unrelenting assaults to give Astana Arlans Kazakhstan the early lead in the match. The last bout of the night was an absolute cracker and although Hrgovic found himself on the losing side, Suker will have been impressed by the extremely high level of boxing and especially the power exhibited by the Lionhearts’ Joseph Joyce.

British Lionhearts now travel to Germany to face the Eagles at the Kuppelsaal Congress Centrum on Saturday 23 February before coming back to York Hall to face a Ukraine Otamans team that will feature pound for pound king and two-time Olympic Champion Vasyl Lomachenko.
