23-year-old Yosbany Veitia is one of the most successful athletes in WSB history, having obtained a fearsome record across his two seasons in the competition. After winning all eight of his matches in Season IV at Light flyweight (49 kg), the Cuban moved up a weight class to Flyweight (52 kg) ahead of Season V.
Throughout the latest campaign of WSB he has been similarly dominant, with seven consecutive victories in the Regular Season ensuring a first place finish in the Flyweight rankings.
That earned Veitia a Rio 2016 quota, which gives him a second chance at earning an Olympic Games gold medal as he also competed at London 2012. Veitia is used to performing well in stressful situations, and won a bronze medal at the 2013 AIBA World Championships in Almaty.
Veitia’s mind and body work together in perfect unison when he boxes, with his footwork among the best in the world. As the current Cuban National Champion, he has represented his country wonderfully throughout the years, and celebrated a glorious gold in the 2014 Central American & Caribbean Games.
