Puerto Rico Hurricanes

Puerto Rico has one of the strongest boxing cultures in the Latin world, and having contributed to the success of other national franchises in previous years, Season V saw the the country’s boxers finally assimilated under the banner of their very own WSB team: The Puerto Rico Hurricanes.

The challenge of catching up with more established outfits didn’t faze the team as they enjoyed six wins in the group stages, narrowly missing out on a play-off place. Two wins in their first two matches had set the Hurricanes off on a dream start, and they eventually finished above their opening two more established opponents the Rafako Hussars Poland and Argentina Condors.

Victories over USA Knockouts, Caciques Venezuela and Italia Thunder further proved their mettle, with Jeyvier Cintron building on his 2012 Olympic experience as a youngster to complete an exceptional season, culminating in qualification for Rio 2016.
