Eric J. Parthen takes up the reins of WSB Americas this week and
his first task will be to set up the new WSB Americas office in
Colorado Springs.
Parthen is a 1994 magna cum laude graduate from Augustana
College and was previously the Director of National Governing Body
(NGB) Development for the United States Olympic Committee
(USOC). Tasked with starting this new division in March,
2005, Parthen and his staff worked to develop enhanced
organizational capabilities in the national sport governing bodies
that the USOC oversees.
Parthen first started with the USOC in the fall of 1993 after
earning an internship during his senior year at Augustana. After
graduation, he spent 18 months working as an Engagement Controller
for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) before returning to the
USOC in April, 1996. Since then, he has held numerous
positions in the Olympic Family including most recently as the
Executive Director of USA Boxing, where he led all staff operations
for the national governing body for the sport of amateur
boxing.
Under his leadership, USA Boxing won two medals at the 2004
Olympic Games including the first Gold medal since 1996. In
addition, Parthen stabilized operations and significantly increased
revenue by engaging new partners during his nearly three year
term.
In recognition of his various achievements, Parthen was a 2005
recipient of the "Finest Under Forty Outstanding Young Alumnus
Award" from the Augustana College Alumni Association. In
addition, he was profiled in the Colorado Springs Business
Journal's "2003 Forty Achievers Under 40."
An active volunteer for the Colorado Springs chapter of the
United Way and various other local charities, Parthen and his wife,
Kelly, reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado with their 5 year old
son, Kale, and their 3 year old daughter, Makena.
