Astana Arlans Presents National Squad to Media

At a press conference held in Astana last week, the Astana Arlans WSB team presented its staff and national boxing squad to the media for the first time, as the Kazakhstan boxers signed their contracts with the team.

Olympic welterweight champion Bakhyt Sarsekbayev will be joined by ten other national boxers in the Astana squad, which is completeted by four international boxers drafted by the team at the WSB International Boxer Draft in London last month: Colombia's Jeysson Varela and Ghana's Maxwell Amponsah at 85kg and Hungary's Istvan Bernath and Serbia's Milutin Stankovich at +91kg. The team will be coached by head coach Beibut Yeszhanov.

Astana Arlans General Director Mr Bolat Mankenov presented the Astana Arlans team identity and cited the importance of this national project in increasing Kazakhstan's chances for gold medals at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Mankenov also gave a hint at the future television coverage of the tournament, which is expected to total 176 hours and include  live broadcasts of all team and championship matches as well as edited highlights packages from the competition.
