The final signing deadline for AIBA-registered boxers who feel they are ready for the World Series of Boxing is Monday 21st June.

By signing a so-called participation agreement, a boxer commits to compete for one of the twelve franchise teams if he is selected at the International Boxer Draft, which will take place the following week, on Monday 28th June, in London.

So far, over 160 of the world's best boxers from 50 countries have signed such agreements and will therefore be available to the selectors in London.

For the boxers, the World Series of Boxing represents an exciting career avenue that will allow them to continue training and competing at the highest level and retain their eligibility for the Olympic Games. In fact, the five Individual Champions in the WSB will automatically qualify for the London 2012 Olympics.

For the franchisees, the boxers available in the draft are a key element in completing the teams, which require a minimum of three international boxers. The wide choice ensures that franchisees will be able to select the very best elite boxers to complete their teams in each of the five WSB weight categories.

World Series of Boxing Chief Operating Officer Ivan Khodabakhsh admitted to being delighted with the level of interest in the tournament: "The number of boxers who have expressed an interest in the tournament is very encouraging and the geographical diversity confirms the universal popularity of our sport."
