28-year-old Zakir Safiullin is a vastly experienced Lightweight (60 kg) boxer who has a accumulated a 2-3 record this season in WSB. After losing three of his first four fixtures in the Regular Season, Safiullin came alive in the semi-finals as he produced a magnificent performance against Artur Subkhankulov.

The two-time Kazakh National Champion displayed all aspects of his ability in the semi-finals, as he mixed defensive prowess with a keen attacking intent. He enjoys reading psychological books in his spare time, which allows him to sharpen his mind for when he competes in the ring.

After beginning boxing at 12-year-old, Safiullin has now been fighting for over half of his life, and he credits the sport as a career which makes him stronger in all aspects of life. Family is very important to the veteran who named his father and brothers as his heroes, while his mothers food is his favourite thing to eat.
