United Ukraine Otamans outclass Algeria Desert Hawks 5-0 at home

Ukraine Otamans returned to form in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) as they whitewashed Algeria Desert Hawks 5-0 in Kyiv.

Kyrgyzstan’s 3-2 Azat Usenaliev opened the evening with an impressive performance for the Otamans as he won every round against Algeria’s 0-4 Abdelhakim El Barka.

Usenaliev has looked unbeatable in Kyiv this season, and he showcased his talents superbly across all five rounds.

Desert Hawk Reda Benbaziz began week 12 of WSB on a four fight winning streak and third in the Lightweight (60 kg) rankings, but his dreams of qualifying for Rio 2016 through this competition are now all but over after he was defeated by debutant Viktor Slavinskyi.

The Ukrainian fighter won the first two rounds of the contest, and though Benbaziz took the third and fourth frames, Slavinskyi recovered to claim the final stanza of the bout on all three scorecards.

Ukraine’s victory was assured at Welterweight (69 kg) when Oleg Zubenko outpointed Algeria’s 2014 National Champion Zohir Kedache.

Fourth ranked Light heavyweight (81 kg) Oleksandr Khyzhniak then enjoyed his fourth home win of Season V with victory over 1-4 Nabil Kassel.

The whitewash was confirmed for the Otamans in the last fight of the evening as Ihor Shevadzutskyi enjoyed his second successive WSB victory by stopping Hamza Beguerni in the third round.

Ukraine Otamans host Russian Boxing Team next week, while Algeria Desert Hawks meet Morocco Atlas Lions.
