Russian Boxing Team earn fifth successive WSB victory away in Algeria

The excellent form of Russian Boxing Team in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) continued with a confident 4-1 victory over Algeria Desert Hawks in Blida.

This was Russia’s fifth WSB win in a row, while Algeria have now lost six of their seven fixtures this season.

Vasiliy Vetkin earned his third successive victory at Flyweight (52 kg) as he won every round against Algeria’s 0-2 Mohamed Lamine Khentache.

Desert Hawk Reda Benbaziz then earned a surprisingly wide points victory over the number one ranked Lightweight (60 kg) Adlan Abdurashidov.

Russia resumed the lead after the third fight of the evening when top ranked 4-0 Welterweight (69 kg) Radzhab Butaev stopped Younes Nemouchi in round five of their bout.

Pavel Silyagin went 3-0 in WSB, and secured the overall victory for his Russian Franchise after enjoying a close split decision verdict over 1-3 Algerian Light heavyweight (81 kg) Nabil Kassel.

Another stoppage occurred in the final bout of the evening when Mourad Khemchan was injured midway through round one of his bout with Russia’s 2-0 Super heavyweight (91+ kg) Gasan Gimbatov.

Russian Boxing Team host China Dragons next week, while Algeria Desert Hawks travel to Cuba Domadores.
