Atlas Lions Morocco officially on board for Season V

The World Series of Boxing (WSB) is pleased to officially welcome Atlas Lions Moroccan Boxing Team, a new addition in its lineup for Season V, after an agreement was signed on Saturday 18 October 2014 with the Moroccan Royal Boxing Federation (FRMB).

This signing ceremony, which took place in Casablanca, was attended by Mr Karim Bouzidi, WSB Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mohamed Loumaïni, Vice-President of the Moroccan Royal Boxing Federation, Mr Karim Akkari, Secretary General of the Moroccan Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as other representatives of the Moroccan Royal Boxing Federation and Moroccan Elite National Team.

According to the President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, this landmark event proves the success of AIBA Competition programs development across the globe:

“We are proud to welcome another important boxing nation from the African continent into WSB. Arrival of the Moroccan team to our League proves that interest among world’s boxing nations in the AIBA Competition programs is growing. And this means that we are moving our beloved sport into right direction,” said Dr Wu.

“This agreement is significant in regards to the further development of the sport of boxing in Morocco. The WSB is the only truly global boxing league in the world, and it opens new doors towards new exciting opportunities for Moroccan boxers. At the same time, this agreement represents an important step forward for our League which now embraces in its family two of the strongest boxing nations of Maghreb in Algeria and Morocco,” underlined WSB CEO Karim Bouzidi after the signing ceremony .

Morocco Atlas Lions enter their first ever WSB Season into Group A, which consists of the current WSB defending champions Cuba Domadores, Season IV semi-finalists Russian Boxing Team, Season III runners-up Ukraine Otamans, the always dangerous Team Germany, exciting Mexico Guerreros, durable neighbours of Moroccans – Algeria Desert Hawks, plus the reborn Team of China Dragons.

The visual identity of the new Maghrebian Team will be unveiled to WSB supporters later this week.
