After weeks of competition, fans around the world are now eagerly waiting for the electric World Series of Boxing (WSB) semi-final clash between Heavyweights (91+kg) Matteo Modugno from Dolce & Gabbana Italia Thunder and the Ukraine Otamans superstar Oleksandr Usyk, World and Olympic Champion. WSB was keen to know more about both fighters’ preparations…
What are your thoughts on your opponent?
Matteo Modugno: Not that much to be honest… I’m happy about my season so far. If one of us needs to defend his position, it is him, not me.
Oleksandr Usyk: I’ve already seen him in action and I know he is big and heavy. I don’t think there will be any surprise for me. I have faced bigger opponents. I will just have to do my job and give my very best for the team to get a good result.
What could be your strategy?
MM: Aggress my opponent from the first seconds of the fight and try to command with my heavier punches.
You are both in your WSB debut season. How would rate the experience?
MM: It is unique, probably the best in my career.
OU: WSB has been sensational for me so far. I enjoy the team concept as well as I love fighting without headguard. I’m a better and much more experienced boxer than I was before the season. But I hope the Otamans’ journey in far from finished this season.
Who has been your toughest opponent?
MM: My injuries, clearly.
OU: No doubt, it was Magomedrasul Medzhidov, from Azerbaijan Baku Fires.
